Gianfranco Ferre

About him:
*was a fashion designer also known as "the architect of fashion" for his background and his original attitude toward creating fashion design.
*His own label is more relaxed and pared-down than Dior. Sophisticated white shirts have become the symbol of his personal signature in fashion design.
*Ferré: previously known as the White Label, more practical, ready-to-wear for both men, women. Within this line, there are Ferré Red (for plus size) and Ferré Fur. For Ferré men there is also Ferré Underwear.

Irene Galitzine

About her:
*PrincessIrene Galitzine, was a Russian-Georgian-born fashion designer whose most renowned creation was the "palazzo pyjama".
* Great success with the launch of her "palazzo pyjamas" which were wide legged evening trousers made of soft silk. Evening pyjamas became a firm fixture of the fashion scene during the 1960's. Currently, some of her original "palazzo pyjama" collection still exist in important museums around the world including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Costume Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Pierre Balmain

About him:
*The Balmain woman had shed the last vestiges of wartime hardship with abundant insouciance and charm, and heralded a return to opulence in richly embroidered gowns and ensembles.
*Pierre Balmain, who used fabrics scupturally for the creation of uncluttered designs accenting pure structure and contrasts of cut and style.
*The name Pierre Balmain stands for a unique concept of elegance, a clientele of royalty and film stars, and a fashion hallmark recognized throughout the world.

Ted Lapidus

About him:
*Lapidus was considered the creator and pioneer of the unisex fashion look;
* His credited with introducing a military and safari look into haute couture;
* He is credited as the first designer to put Military style Shoulder straps on both male and female clothing, and with making blue jeans part of the mainstream of fashion design.
*Lapidus label ceased producing haute couture and is now primarily known for its fashion accessories of watches and fragrances.
* the first designer to persuade Twiggy to wear a suit and tie rather than a mini-skirt;

Charles Frederick Worth

About him:
*widely considered the Father of Haute couture, was an English fashion designer of the 19th century, whose works were produced in Paris.
^*Much of his work is associated with the movement to redefine the female fashionable shape, removing excessive ruffles and frills and using rich fabrics in simple but flattering outlines.
*He is credited as the first designer to put labels onto the clothing he manufactured.^[5]
* Worth gave his customers luxurious materials and meticulous fit.

*** Rather than let the customer dictate the design, as had previously been dressmaking practice, four times a year he displayed model dresses at fashion shows. His patronesses would pick a model, which would then be sewn in fabrics of their choice and tailored to their figure. Worth was sufficiently fashionable that he had to turn away customers. This only added to his éclat. He completely revolutionised the business of dressmaking. He was the first of the couturiers, dressmakers considered artists rather than mere artisans.

Dresses:

*The dress was designed specifically for presentation at court, worn by a Debutante. It is made from heavy pure silk satin, hand embroidered with metallic beads, sequins and diamante in a sumptuous floral design. It is trimmed with hand-made lace and like all presentation dresses has a richly worked long train. Trains, which had always formed an important part of court dress, extended from three feet to eight feet by 1870 and even longer by the end of the century. Trains were fastened at this period from the waist and were often made of costly and ornate materials.

Anna Sui

About her:
* Her clothing is largely inspired by various cultures and historical periods
*Her luxury brand retails globally in the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
*Sui is known for her vivid, colorful and cheerful designs.
*Sui's collections merge history and culture across time and space and have guided the world of fashion over the past two decades.

Career:
*In 1991, Sui opened her first retail location at 113 Greene Street in New York City's Soho District. This shop, with its lavender walls, red floors, antique black furniture, and signature dolly head mannequins has become a staple of SOHO fashion and has guided the aesthetic of Anna Sui stores worldwide.
*Her iconic fashion shows, with their much-anticipated rock music and background designs.

Other lines:
Anna Sui Shoes premiered on the runway for the fall collection in 1994. Manufactured in Venice, Italy, the shoe collection includes both day and evening styles, in velvet, silk, patent leather, snake and lizard skin, shearling and suede.

About her:
